Wiik Sauce has always been a challenge for me to write.  I have a tendency to write things very broadly, very epic, and as Skwerl and Matt would say, very stolen.  They’re all problems of mine (except for that last part, fuck you guys =p), and they do present issues when I’m writing Wiik Sauce.  Six panel, 3 times a week web comics do not lend themselves to very epic, broad strokes.

Case in point, strip #50, which teased a storyline called “The Interludes”.  As soon as I put it in there, Skwerl hit the roof.  “Oh crap” he started saying “You need to do this soon.”  After every storyline he would persist “Are we going to do this now, are we going to do this now?”, and I kept insisting we were, but it just never felt right.

So it is with great pride that I tell you the time finally feels right.  Still a little bit more to do to finish this tale up, but come Monday you will finally experience the awesome story that is “Wiik Sauce: The Interludes”.  Is it a departure from the strips usual fare?  Definitely.  Its a darker, more serious tale that sets up events in the next major storyline.  Well…second next major.  Or something like that.  See what I mean about writing too broadly?

Regardless, I just wanted to reassure those of you who have been invested the strip that the Interludes is coming as planned, and will begin a serious shake-up of the world of Wiik Sauce.  There are big things coming, as we find a world where nothing is what it was, and there are plenty of entertaining stories to continue to be spun out of this far-reaching, rich and ever-growing universe.
